AND THEY'RE OFF: The start of Sunday's fun run.
AND THEY'RE OFF: The start of Sunday's fun run.

THE Leukaemia fun run in Bromsgrove was a huge success as usual, netting an initial £4,000 for the charity.

About 360 runners took to the country lanes around Finstall on a beautiful spring Sunday with temperatures soaring into the 80s.

When all the sponsorship cash rolls in it is hoped that the final figure raised will match last year's total of £10,000.

Organiser Nicole Harris said: "It was a very hot day, but we had plenty of water stops. Miss Bromsgrove, Alisha Southall was great starting off the race and helping us give out the medals at the presentation afterwards."

Nicole said she was grateful to all those who took part and the helpers on the day.

The next fundraising event is to be a bikeathon for children in Sanders Park on June 8.
