Shoppers support sought

FAMILY and friends of county student Emily Jordan, who drowned whilst river-boarding in New Zealand, are calling on shoppers to help them raise funds for a charity in her name.

The Emily Jordan Foundation, set up to help young adults with learning difficulties, has joined fundraising website www.easyfundraising.org.uk and now Emily's family are urging anyone who shops online to use the site to help them raise funds.

Shoppers will generate a free donation to the Foundation of up to 15 per cent from every purchase they make simply by using the easyfundraising site to shop with over 500 well known retailers.

Retailers include M&S, Amazon, NEXT, Boots, eBay, Dell, Woolworths, Direct Line, Screwfix, Interflora, Staples, Expedia and many more.

Purchases won't cost the shopper a penny more with easyfundraising but a percentage of each spend will be passed back to The Emily Jordan Foundation, making it a simple yet effective way to raise money.

Emily's sister Lucy explained how using the site will benefit the foundation. "This is a very easy way for anyone who shops online to help us," she said.

"So many of us shop online these days and just by using the easyfundraising website, people can help us raise the funds we need to set up and run the foundation. For example, if you spend £50 with Amazon, you'll generate a free donation of £1.25 of the Foundation. Insure your car with Direct Line and you'll raise £35, at absolutely no additional cost to you."

The aims of the Foundation are to create a small holding with workshop space to allow individuals with learning difficulties to grow produce and keep animals.

Lucy continued, "Emily was always involved in helping for young adults with learning difficulties, it was something very close to her heart. We really want to raise as much as possible so we can use the Foundation not only to help these young people but also to create a lasting legacy to her. "

Supporters can raise even more when they search the web as easyfundraising also features an innovative charity search engine. By searching the web just 10 times per day with http://ejf.easysearch.org.uk surfers can raise around £20 each per year for The Emily Jordan Foundation at no cost to themselves.
